The Human Resources Consultant – Organizational Effectiveness is focused on creating a culture within NLC that promotes personal and organizational success. The position provides leadership, guidance and insight in several critical areas that drive organizational effectiveness including: learning and development, performance management, employee engagement, change management, diversity, inclusion and belonging, succession planning, team dynamics, and other elements that impact the corporate culture.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide guidance and consultation in all areas of organizational effectiveness including employee development, performance management, change management, team dynamics, and employee engagement;

  • Develop a talent management and development strategy, and associated training initiatives, which align with NLC strategic direction and priorities;

  • Act as NLC’s diversity resource, providing advice and direction to create a culture that offers all employees a sense of inclusion, respect, and belonging;

  • Oversee various employee engagement and feedback mechanisms that provide effective two way, responsive communication between staff and management;

  • Develop appropriate policies, procedures, tools and templates to promote individual and organizational success;

  • Support the development and implementation of corporate and departmental strategic objectives, KPIs, budget, risk assessment, and reporting;

  • Ensure communications plan is developed and implemented for strategy and other initiatives;

  • Facilitate team-building workshops to increase team effectiveness.

For consideration as a potential candidate, the individual should possess the following qualifications:

  • University Degree in Commerce or Business Administration, business management, organizational development, human resources or a related discipline. An MBA, CPHR, and/or advanced education in Adult Learning would be an asset;

  • Minimum five (5) years of related human resource experience, including experience in organizational effectiveness, training/employee development, performance management, succession planning, workforce planning, leadership development, change management, diversity initiatives and conflict resolution – preferably in a unionized environment;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Proven facilitation skills;

  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with employees;

  • Strong consulting skills, including a demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence all levels of leadership in the design of OE solutions;

  • Ability to assess organizational development/learning needs and develop, implement and evaluate programs.
